Mask Football

Why don’t hockey players wear face masks like football or lacrosse players?
Obviously they get hit in the face a lot with sticks and pucks, which can be EXTREMELY dangerous. They lose teeth and get numerous scars, why not wear some protection
?
They don’t for a couple of reasons.
1. It’s “cool” to have as little on your head as possible. If you’re a LW in the NHL and you have a full cage, players (and people) are gonna laugh at you.
2. The aquarium tends to fog up, and the bird cage can hamper your vision.
They require a visor in international and Olympic play. College players are required to have full face protection.
Besides, have you seen the “playoff beards”? I don’t think these guys are worried about their appearance.
